DESCRIPTION:Black Minds Matter (BMM) is a grassroots initiative designed to prepare 21st Century African-American youth leaders in the areas of art\, education\, and political activism. Through engagement in cultural events\, speaker presentations\, and the Black Minds Matter Concert Series (with emphasis on America’s original music of Gospel\, Blues\, and Jazz\, BMM strives to increase\, within our communities\, voter registration\, college matriculation\, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) funding. \nAll proceeds from the concert benefit student scholarships. The core values that BMM considers in awarding student scholarships include:  a strong work ethic; a demonstration of overcoming hardship; scholastic potential; leadership potential; ability to solve problems; an affinity for music and the ability to lead social change for the 21st Century. \nBMM’s goal is to position the 21st Century youth leader with the opportunity to attend college. As such\, BMM will focus its attention on providing scholarships to underprivileged youth who will attend HBCUs in the United States.
